Symposium on « Mediation: strengthening democracy and the rule of law»
On November 15, 2013 was held in the auditorium François Bassil a symposium on « Mediation: strengthening democracy and the rule of law».
Organized by the Professional mediation center (CPM) of the Saint Joseph University (USJ) in collaboration avec the Political science institute (ISP) of the USJ, the International organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and the Association of Ombudsman and mediators of the Francophonie (AOMF), the symposium brought together Mr. Christophe Guilhou, Director of the peace, democraty and human rights division at the OIF, Mr. Mohamad el Hacen Ould Lebatt, international advisor, Mr. Antoine Grezaud, Chief of staff of the French Defendor of rights and Mr. Ziad Baroud, former Minister of Interior.
The symposium marked the beginning of a cycle of seminars in mediation and political negotiation involving CPM professional mediators and representatives of most Lebanese political parties.
At the end of the training, the participants will form a committee to work on the development of mediation in the peaceful settlement of political/community conflicts in Lebanon.
